Your childhood story had me in tears. I have a 6, almost 7 year old boy. I can’t imagine him going through what you went through and then not be believed. But it all makes sense - the living up to that story of your resilience, the performance. It’s amazing how time eventually gives us the space to reflect on how these traumas have shaped us into who we are. Like you, spirituality has been the key to a more peaceful and balanced perspective for me. When we can eventually give these inner children, plus our current selves what they’ve been asking for all along, then we can finally move forward and shape a different future. Your story has inspired me to be a better advocate for myself and get more support. Thank you for sharing it.
